Prof. Syeda Nurjahan Bhuyian

Prof. Syeda Nurjahan Bhuyian is a senior obstetrician/gynecologist of Bangladesh and a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Besides her duties as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Chittagong University, she is Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Chittagong Medical College and Director of the College's Improvement of Women's and Maternal Health Project. She has had a long interest in contraceptive research and conducted the first clinical trial of menstrual regulation (MR) in Bangladesh which later became part of the National Family Planning Programme. She directed the first medical school based training program in MR for doctors and midwives, and is currently Vice President of the Bangladesh Association for Prevention of Septic Abortion. Dr. Bhuyian has been published widely in scientific literature and is the author of the standard textbook, A Clinical Guide to Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
